Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's off to Sew I Go!!!

How time flies when you are...busy. I can't believe we are 19 school days away from completing another school year. So many of those days will be filled with field days, finals, and fun times that they will pass even faster. I AM ready for summer break. I AM NOT ready for Hayden to be a senior. Seems like yesterday I was carrying her to preschool with her Mickey/Minnie backpack. Turn around and she is grown. Because I don't want to start crying already, again, I will change the subject.



Little did I know that posting a few pictures of embroidery projects and patterns on Facebook would give such a boost to my sewing business/hobby. Word of mouth doesn't hurt either.




I certainly enjoy the extra money, but I feel I have neglected sewing for Kate, which is what I enjoy most. Wade and Hayden say I should learn to say "No". That doesn't come easy for me, especially when friends are involved. Maybe when school is out I can sew/smock/embroidery/applique for Kate, and her new little sibling. As soon as we find out baby Cantrell's sex, I am ready to start outfits for him/her. Oh how my brain is turning with ideas. I'll certainly have to make some matching outfits. Yay!!! Can't wait!!!

Wade's niece, Whitney is also expecting her first baby in December. I want to make some special little outfits for baby Skellie, as well.

Babies Galore...What Fun!!!

Long Time, No Post

Well, it has been about two and a half months since my last post. I would like to say I have been taking it easy and just haven't spent much time on the computer...but that would be so far from the truth. Since mid January I have been pretty busy. Some fun things, some busy things, and some down right heartbreaking times.
Lets start with the busy. I made 8 costumes for the kindergarten play. 5 turkeys, 1 rooster, 1 bull, and a judge. It was quite a bit of work, but they all turned out soo cute.



Besides all the costumes, I had several embroidery orders, and tried to fit in a few items for Kate. I am really close to being caught up right now, so I finally have time to sew some summer outfits for her.

And then the sad. The small town I am from has been hit hard by the loss of many family members and close friends.
A good friend, LeeAnn Hurst, passed away early this month. She was born with spina bifida and had fought a long, hard fight. She was such a trooper and inspiration to everyone who knew her. She never let her illness get her down. Even though she will be missed by so many here on earth, I can just see her walking, finally, hand in hand with all the loved ones that have gone before her.
My father had a cousin to pass, and Meloney, my sister-in-law, lost her grandmother the same week. It hasn't slowed down since then. We have lost 5 or more friends and relatives of church members and my best childhood friend's grandmother was buried yesterday. I then learned of a classmate of my brother, and counselor at a nearby school, who was loved and admired by so many, lost her battle with leukemia. Too much sadness for 3 short weeks.

Now, finally to happy news! Baby Kate celebrated her 1st birthday!!! Hayden and I went to visit with Luke, Amanda and Kate on Tuesday. We spent the whole day shopping with her. She is an angel. Luke and Amanda shared wonderful news. They are expecting their second baby this fall. Can't wait to find out if it's a boy or girl so I can start sewing.Playing with the toy she picked out and sporting the birthday bib I made for her.

We have enjoyed a wonderful, restful Spring Break. Of course, the break ends tomorrow and we return to school and SAT10 testing. Woohoo! Oh well, guess this just gets us closer to summer break.

Easy, Peasy, Delicious Cookies!

I found a recipe for these cookies on Sister's Stuff and decided to try them. They are super easy and so delicious. They are very similar to the Lofthouse brand if you use the white cake mix.

1 box cake mix (called for white, but I think you could use any flavor)
1/3 cup oil
2 eggs
1 can frosting (again, flavor of choice)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix ingredients together until moistened. Scoop onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake 6 to 8 minutes. Let cool on cookie sheet for 1 minute before moving to cooling rack. Frost while cookies are slightly warm.

Roll Tide Roll !!! Yeah, Baby!

It has been 17 years in the making, but we finally made it! Our 13th National Championship. The game was definitely a nail biter at times. We had to make sure we wore our "lucky" clothes and sat in the same chairs as during previous games. No, I'm not really a superstitious person...but we couldn't take any chances. I wish McCoy could have stayed healthy and finished out his college career. He is really a great player, and wonderful, christian example. I still think we would have won, but who knows what might have happened if McCoy was able to play and McElroy wasn't playing with broken ribs from the Florida game. Guess we will never know. I will still enjoy the win and Saban will get his statue at the "Walk of Champions"

Snow Days!!!

Christmas is over, the new year is here, and I should be in school today. Instead, God has blessed us with a sprinkling of beautiful, white snow and weather days away from school. I'm sure I will want these days back in late spring when the children and teachers are both in need of a break from each other, but I am going to enjoy them now. Nothing special...painting, computer, deciding if I want to pack away all the Christmas decorations, and excitedly waiting for the BIG GAME tonight. Hopefully I will be celebrating a National Championship at this time tomorrow.

For now, I will review the Christmas holidays. We are truly BLESSED. We spent Christmas eve morning with Wade's parents, his younger brother, Jeff and his family. On Christmas eve night we opened presents with Brittany and then had Christmas morning at home. Wade surprised me, which is very hard to do, with a laptop. He had an envelope on the tree that contained clues which led me to my gift. Sooo sweet, and who knew he was such a poet. Christmas night was at my mom and dads with my family. We all bought our parents a new big screen tv. As you can tell by the picture, they were surprised...and happy too.Not their new TV in picture. Hayden and Kevin

On Monday night after Christmas we celebrated with Wade's older brother Tom, his family, and Wade's parents. The Grand Finale was on the next Sunday, when Luke , Amanda, and Kate came for a visit. Kate was a pro at opening presents by this point. She liked the gifts but would have been completely satisfied to chew on the wrapping paper and bows.







We had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed time with family. Thanks to all that made our Christmas so special.
